oBD-RE (Writable BD) media not freely available at this point, negating extra data storage capacity of Blu-ray

بلو-ری 4 لایه و ۱۰۰ گیگابایت فضا،

6 لایه و ۲۰۰ گیگا بایت فضا، دیسک هایی هستند که کار بر روی آنها شروع شده و در حال تحقیقات و پیشرفت است.

توسعه لایه ها حتی تا ۱۰ لایه با ۲۵۰ گیگ نیز مطرح شده، اما مشکل تولید آن، پایین بودن تکنولوژی دیسک خوان های امروزی عنوان شده.
